Fastloc™ is a GPS receiver peripheral for integration
into telemetry or archival animal tags. It has been designed specifically
to address the problems faced with traditional GPS receivers in a marine
environment. Wave wash, submersion and poor antenna orientation are all
problems that can prevent a traditional GPS receiver from maintaining signal
lock and thus provide location information. Consequently GPS receiver
deployment on free ranging marine mammals is rarely successful. The Fastloc™
receiver employs novel signal processing techniques to overcome these
limitations, allowing it to successfully operate in the challenging marine
environment.

Fastloc™ Versions 3.0 & 2.1 compared with a UK 5 pence
Fastloc™ can acquire GPS constellation signals
in a very short time to obtain the relative satellite ranges needed for location calculation
to an accuracy of +/- 55m (95%). For further information see
